P2, P3, and P4 students:
The American College of Clinical Pharmacy is a professional and scientific society that provides leadership, education, advocacy, and resources enabling clinical pharmacists to achieve excellence in practice and research. ACCP has multiple opportunities for student participation, including development of a formal chapter, national meeting attendance, student networking opportunities, committee and practice research network participation, as well as the annual Clinical Pharmacy Challenge.
Presbyterian College will hold the local Clinical Pharmacy Challenge competition to select our team on two different dates: Thursday, August 28 at 12 pm in room 104 (already occurred) and
Monday September 1 at 12 pm in room 104. Each competition should last no more than 30-45 min or so. To view more information about the competition, click
http://www.accp.com/stunet/compete/overview.aspx. Essentially, we will hold a local competition that is a three round challenge. This year, members will compete individually – no need to form a team of three. We will have three rounds of competition: Trivia/Lightening, Clinical Case, and Jeopardy. The local competition will be written. The top three scoring participants will make up our team which will be registered by
September 2nd. We will also select two alternates. Participants must be available throughout the month of September to come to PC on the scheduled dates of online challenges (9/4, 9/8, 9/10, 9/12).
The winning team (top 3 scores) will then compete in online rounds of competition at a national level starting
September 4th. The team will attempt to advance through subsequent online rounds (9/8, 9/10, 9/12) and the top 8 teams will compete live in a national quiz bowl format at the ACCP National Meeting in Austin, Texas this October. Please let me know if you have any questions. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your pharmacotherapy knowledge in an exciting format.
If you are interested in competing and plan to attend the local competition on 9/1, please email me at
jafoushee@presby.edu with your name and confirmation of participation so we can ensure enough copies of the competition are on hand.
P4 Students: You may also participate. If you are unable to make it to either of the scheduled dates to compete for a slot, please email Dr. Foushee (
jafoushee@presby.edu) and we will try to arrange for an alternate time for you to compete. It must be before
Tuesday September 2. We can also arrange for you to participate remotely for the online challenges scheduled at later dates.
